My family, my kids and dogs, sewing and food
I’m Jennifer Richardson and I am obsessed with just one thing: helping every-day people to better understand and make the most of their hard-earned money.
I’m known as the woman who has put the fun back into finance. My common-sense, no BS approach to money management has been described as a breath of fresh air in an industry dominated by confusing jargon, constantly changing rules and armchair experts.
I’m a financial adviser, accountant, mortgage broker and money coach with more than 30-years’ experience in the financial services sector.
I’m also a successful business owner and entrepreneur, having founded and directed financial services company 123 Financial Group for 15 years, and more recently launching an exciting financial literacy initiative for women called Got Money Honey.
123 Financial Group has grown to become one of the most respected providers of financial planning, tax & accounting, and business advisory services in the Newcastle. I started the business as a small accountancy practice, operating from the front bedroom of my family home with three baby boys playing at my feet.
As my customer base and business (and boys!) grew, 123 evolved into what it is today — a highly skilled and professional firm offering a comprehensive and integrated suite of financial services to clients across the Hunter Valley.
And now, I am thrilled to have launched a brand-new initiative dedicated just to women.
Why women? Well, because throughout my career, I have seen first-hand the struggle that many women have when it comes to managing their finances. Some worry about the future, about their security and retirement prospects. Others are exhausted by the constant struggle with their cash flow and the dread of unexpected bills. Some just feel totally out-of-the loop when it comes to money matters and embarrassed that they don’t know more.
I’ve also been motivated by the gender pay gap, financial literacy gap and poor retirement outcomes for women. They are persistent and real, and something we should all be concerned about.
And so Got Money Honey was born. A collection of online, self-paced money courses in plain English, with no-judgement and the support of myself and a gorgeous community of other like-minded women.
The courses are designed to be engaging, practical and easy-to-digest (some have even said fun!) – and I've added in some powerful tools and templates to make it even easier for women to get organised...and stay that way.
Got Money Honey is suitable for all women, but I’m particularly interested in women older than 35 who have always struggled with managing their money, are worried about their retirement or find themselves suddenly managing finances on their own due to separation, divorce or the loss of a partner.
I am so incredibly passionate about and committed to this initiative (my fourth baby I like to call it!) because I can see, every day, the real difference it is making in women's lives.
Got Money Honey’s signature personal finance course My Money Makeover launched last year to rave reviews. Future courses and group coaching opportunities for female business owners and entrepreneurs are also in the works.
