I help people who are amazing technicians transform themselves into great leaders so they can bring their team along with them.
I upskill them to ensure they have the skills to be a better technician and a great leader together, because the two elements are not mutually exclusive. It doesn't matter how wonderful people are as a technician, if they can't get their team to support them then their growth is limited. I help them build the 'soft' skills to have hard conversations.

Leadership, or the lack of it, dominates our headlines. Whilst I would like to say that my journey into leadership was inspired by the leaders around me, sadly, as we look across the business and political landscape of leadership, that is not the case. And that is the problem. From Coopers and Lybrand to financial PR in London, to being plunged into running an African travel company in my 20s, I have worked with and experienced leadership through many countries and a range of different lenses. Many lessons learned!
Whilst industry experience is often the best learning environment, I wanted to play in the bigger space of leadership, and I knew I needed the qualifications, so, having completed my MBA, to fit into what was largely a male domain, I went on to work on with listed, private, government and not for profit organisations. The one common element across all of these, no matter their size, share price or political influence is the need for strong, capable leadership. From Victoria Police to Telstra to nab, government departments to numerous small businesses and not for profits across Australia, the issues leaders struggle with the most are consistent.
In my 20+ years of working with organisations, I see leaders at every level of leadership struggle with:
* becoming more self aware, so they can be more effective
* building communication skills so they can influence more broadly and have a bigger impact
* building skills to manage difficult conversations
* connecting teams to their organisation’s vision and goals and helping them take responsibility
* helping teams to become more connected and effective.
As for me as a person, I am a mum to a teenager (a leader in the making) and a mad labradoodle, a stepmum to four kids, a widow and and a very amateur rose grower and furniture upholsterer.
